The King's Robes Dont Make The King
Pastor Obi teaches us how we are not defined by class, current status and possessions.
We live in a very material world where status and class is defined by possessions. Society celebrates wealth and the outward show of connections and clout.People love to live in the euphoria of social recognition and acclaim that they deliberately accept descriptions of themselves that they know are not correct, as far as it sounds good.
However, it is amazing to see how quickly such people come down crashing to the floor as soon as the very people who put those platitudes of praise and pomp on them begin to pluck the feathers of presumed ‘glory’ one by one.
In no time, it becomes very obvious that the King’s robes do not make the King.
Now Joseph had a dream and he told it to his brothers, and they hated him still more. And he said to them, Listen now and hear, I pray you, this dream that I have dreamed: We [brothers] were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and stood upright, and behold, your sheaves stood round about my sheaf and bowed down! His brothers said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us? Or are you going to have us as your subjects and dominate us? And they hated him all the more for his dreams and for what he said. Genesis 37:5 - 8
For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren. And those whom He thus foreordained, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified (acquitted, made righteous, putting them into right standing with Himself). And those whom He justified, He also glorified [raising them to a heavenly dignity and condition or state of being]. Hebrews 8:29 - 30
For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]. Ephesians 2:10
