Why the Holy Spirit Is Proof You Can’t Fail
In a world filled with distractions and competing priorities, there's a prophetic cry echoing through the church today: Focus on Christ. This isn't just good advice—it's an apostolic redirection that can transform your life and ministry.
What Does It Mean to Focus on Christ?
When the going is good, focus on Christ. When there's turbulence, focus on Christ. When you're about to take a step of faith and don't know what will happen—whether it's about that building project, that assignment, or that important meeting—focus on Christ. This message isn't just another sermon topic; it's a heavy-duty, prophetic word to the church. While many things are important and can be taught from Scripture, this represents a crucial redirection for believers everywhere.
The Story of Peter Walking on Water
Stepping Out in Faith
One night, the disciples were sailing across the Sea of Galilee when they saw Jesus walking on water. They were frightened because they had never seen anyone do such a thing before. But Peter, with remarkable audacity and confidence in Christ, said, "If it's you, Lord, bid me come."
The Lord simply said, "Come." With that one word, Peter stepped out of the boat, focusing on Christ, and began walking on water.
The Power of Maintaining Focus
As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on water—something no other human had ever done. He was experiencing the glory of the moment, doing the impossible. But the moment he took his eyes away from Jesus and looked at his circumstances, he began to sink. However, Jesus didn't let him fall. When Peter cried out for help, Jesus immediately reached out and pulled him up. Together, they entered the boat and finished the journey.
Why Focus on Christ Instead of Other Things?
Christ is the Source of Everything
There are many important things that can engage our attention—projects, money, administration, strategy, and finances. While these things are vital for any ministry or endeavour, they are not the focus. They are followers, not leaders. When we focus on Christ, everything else follows.
All the things you're seeking are found in Christ: Miracles are in Christ. Prosperity is in Christ. Breakthrough is in Christ. Healing is in Christ. Deliverance is in Christ
The Principle of Seeking First
Scripture teaches us to "seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." When you focus on Christ, you qualify for everything that God has made available. All things become yours because you are in Christ.
How Christ Changed Everything
The Ultimate Game Changer
The coming of Christ into this world was the ultimate game changer. Before Christ, the world was steeped in sin, covered in darkness, and under the dominion of the devil. Every dispensation that God put in place to bring humanity back—conscience, human government, law—ended in failure and judgment.
Then God brought His final solution: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Complete Victory Over the Enemy
Jesus didn't just defeat the devil—He destroyed him. According to Hebrews 2:14, Christ took on human form "that through death he might destroy" the enemy. The devil is not just conquered; he's obliterated and irreparably finished.
If the devil couldn't stop Christ from rising from the dead, he cannot stop you from fulfilling your destiny. The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives inside every believer.
What Happens When You Focus on Christ?
Signs and Wonders Follow
When you focus on Christ, you don't have to pursue signs and wonders—they follow you. The Scripture says, "These signs shall follow them that believe." As you follow Christ, signs and wonders naturally accompany your life and ministry.
Supernatural Provision
Focusing on Christ opens doors to supernatural provision. When you step out in faith with your eyes on Jesus, resources come from every angle. The Red Sea parts, and help arrives from unexpected sources.
Victory Over Limitations
Whatever has placed a ceiling on your rising is destroyed when you focus on Christ. You begin to rise higher day by day and shine brighter day by day. Those who have been blocking your way will come and bow before you.
The Pattern of Christ's Ministry
The Ultimate Example
Christ's ministry provides the ultimate pattern for the church. His teaching ministry, preaching ministry, and healing ministry show us how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and power, and He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil.
As followers of Christ, we are called to:
Preach the gospel
Teach the word of God
Heal the sick
Cleanse the lepers
Perform miracles
It Is Finished
When Christ hung on the cross, He crushed all the enemies that were against us—the devil, sin, death, the grave, and hell. His declaration, "It is finished" means the work of redemption is complete. We don't have to struggle for salvation, healing, or victory over the enemy.
Life Application
This week, make a conscious decision to refocus your attention on Christ in every area of your life. Instead of being consumed by your circumstances, challenges, or even your blessings, fix your eyes on Jesus. When you face decisions about your career, relationships, finances, or ministry, ask yourself: "Am I focusing on Christ or on the problem?"
Practice this daily discipline: Before you tackle any challenge or opportunity, spend time focusing on who Christ is and what He has already accomplished for you. Remember that everything you need is found in Him, and when you seek Him first, all other things will be added to your life.
Questions for Reflection:
What areas of your life have you been trying to handle without focusing on Christ first?
How might your current challenges look different if you viewed them through the lens of Christ's finished work?
What step of faith is God calling you to take while keeping your eyes fixed on Jesus?
Are you pursuing signs and wonders, or are you following Christ and allowing them to follow you?
